Rationale...

Due to da requests of Ronin... i'm gonna pen down da rationales for my typography designs...

Name : I am who I am

Nobody is perfect... Not me, not you, not him...
So I leave out 1 stroke in each letters to show dat i'm not perfect...
but yet despite da incompleteness, I am stil who I am...
I am stil Alvin Chew Way Foong...

Name. : Naughty boy, Curious boy

When I'm curious abt somethin, I'll start to explore it...
Da result, i'll spoil everythin...
Then my parents wil scold me & said that i'm naughty...
So I try to combine my naughtiness & curiousity...
Naughtiness is shown in da 'way" & "FOONG" - da fonts show playfulness...
Curiousity is shown in "alvin" & "chew" - its hidden in da "way" to show dat i wanna know da hidden thing...
*** Naughty fella likes 2 conteng... so i made da background looks like a blackboard n da words looks like bein conteng wit chalks... (dats wat i did in secondary sch last time...)

Assignment... Again...

Finally finished my Letterin & Calligraphy proj 3-part 1...

wher Im suppose 2 scan my letters (letters dat i created in proj 1) into da pc n construct them in Adobe Illustrator...

The name for my set of letters is I-wrought... (Iron + wrought)

At 1st, da name was juz wrought... wic means 'worked'...

but da minimum letters for da name is 8 letters...

wrought = 7 letters...

ther4 hav 2 crack my head again 2 think of another name...

after goin thru my research on dis proj...

finally tot of dis name - I-wrought...

coz da theme for my design is wrought ironwork (da decoration on autogates... wher ther r those curly patterns made of iron...)

so i decided 2 combine both da words iron & wrought...

Assignments made me cried... T^T

My Name, My Design

Created these designs durin my 'Lettering & Calligraphy' class on wed...
These r part of my class assignment... (ther's 5 of them all 2gether)
No clues of how i actuali did these...
I was juz sketchin on a piece of layout pad...
then POOF... i got these designs...

due 2 my camera isn't functionin... i couldnt take photos of them...
so i hav 2 construct everythin in Adobe Illustrator... (i did refine them a little)

My principal had adviced us to think & consider properly b4 decidin... coz it will affect our future...

if da path we gonna choose is wat we actuali like n hav lots of interests in it...
he said most probably we can retire at da age of 38...
coz we would hav achieve our goals... our dreams...

I was thinkin:-
if i were to retire at da age of 38...
it will most probably be da time when i'm already a multimillionaire.
but my chances of being a multimillionaire is juz 60%... so i'll mayb be considerin to retire at abt 45... haha...

Work hard 24/7/365 n be a multimillionaire, but stil haven reach ur goals...
or
hav average income, need not work hard 24/7/365 anymore but can enjoy life coz already achieve ur goals...

Holidays Are Never Holidays Anymore

My mid-term break starts on Mon (12/03/07) & lasts for a week,
but im not excited abt it at all...
coz lots & lots of holiday assignments are waitin for me to complete them...

9 figures to be drawn (each takes abt 4 hours)...
8 gesture drawins to be completed (30 mins)...
1 letterin design to be refined...
1 water colour paintin to be painted (3 hours)...
1 seminar to be attended (10am-5.30pm)...
and a few researches to be done...

All of these in juz da period of 1 week...
1 WEEK !!! OMG !!!

Its not dat i cant finish everythin in 1 week...
its juz dat my holidays will be pretty much occupied...

No vacation...
No sleepin til 12pm...
No goin to bed at late nite...
Lesser basketball, football n badminton...
Lesser time for TV...
Lesser time for games n Internet...
And worst of all...
Lesser Rest !!!

Holiday is meant for us to hav a break after many tirin weeks of studyin...
but my holiday isnt a holiday anymore...
I am not goin to hav any break...
I am not goin to hav any rest...
All I hav are lots & lots of holiday assignments...
